My Questions

I am asking questions about our new topic for this term.So that I can get more information about what we are learning about.

My questions for this term are...

Friday, May 21, 2010

"Cool" I said to my self because today we were having a person come to our school to teach us about bike safety. The people who were teaching us about bike safety were Tony and Adrian. They came from a place called big Foot Adventures.

While Tony told us about safety precautions we all were listening attentively to get more information about the correct safety equipment. The safety equipment includes a safety helmet, bright visible cloths to wear and good footwear(shoes) to wear. Then we carefully adjusted our helmets so that it was tight and snug.

I carefully manoeuvred over the ramps and cones in the obstacle course.I kept on thinking that I would fall but I just kept on saying to myself "I will be OK". While wobbling and wiggling I was tiring to balance precariously. Then I finally made it and i was really happy.

Before long it was time that we had to swap and learn about a different type of strategy. The different type of strategy we were going to learn was for when we were on the road. If we needed to turn we learnt how we could use our indicator(hand signals). As Tony demonstrated how to do the indicator it looked so easy. He told us we had to count in our head ,while we were doing our hand signal we had to count for three seconds. we all said 1 banana 2 banana 3 banana before we turned.soon it was my turn. I did what I was told to do and I made it,maneuvering carefully while focusing on trying not to wobble and fall.

it was cool doing the Big foot Adventer. I hope that we can do it again

Mr Bark's Cool Experiment

I wonder what we we are going to see down at the reserve with Mr Barks? I knew it was going to be about our topic this term but I wasn't quite sure what it was going to be about.

As soon as Mr Barks told us a little bit about what he was doing it all made sense. First he told us a little bit about the dried ice that he was using for the experiment to show the power of pressure. Did you know that dried ice is so cold that it would burn you because it is -75 degrees C? For Mr Barks to get that type of stuff he had to sign a lot of forms to say, that he wouldn't do anything silly with it.

He also brought some safety goggles to get the dried ice out of container) and an oven mitt and Tongs as safety precaution's. Suddenly. it was time he did the experiment. So we all waited with excitement ready to see what was going to happen.

He put in the dried ice and water into a bottle and made sure it was tight and secure. After a 20 second delay we all heard a massive boom. Mr Barks told use that the dried ice turned from solid to vapour but we couldn't see it. He also told us that the water speed it up. Soon he did one more. But this time he put the oven mitt he was using on top of the bottle.

The same as last time we all counted to 28 and then it all went "Bang!". The power split the stitching and ripped it all apart into two. It resembled a volcano eruption.

Our Exciting Immersion Assembly

My eyes lit up when I got in the hall because I could see all of the teachers dressed up all in costumes.I said to my self, "I wonder what our topic is going to be about this term?" Soon we all got settled into our places and then our principal Mr Burt came in and told us a little bit about what our topic was going to be this term.

After one term 3 and there item had finished it was time for my team(team 4) to do there item.First Maggie Magma, the host, announced the who were in the item. The peoples names were Miss cinders,Miss Lohar and Miss Bionic Tectonic Electronic Supersonic. The show was called "Are You Smarter Then A Ten Year Old".My favorite bit of the show was when Miss King ( one of the people in the show) kept on getting the wrong answers and saying silly answers. My other favourite part of the Immersion Assembly was team 5 because one of the teacher called Miss Tito was being funny by saying that one of the other teachers from our school was her friend her name was Miss Lavakula .She also said that her name was Miss Cooler Lava.

I can't to learn because it seems like it will be an interesting topic to learn about.
